“The Inheritance Games” by Jennifer Lynn Barnes Bite Sized Review

Book DescriptionAvery Grambs has a plan for a better future: survive high school, win a scholarship, and get out. But her fortunes change in an instant when billionaire Tobias Hawthorne dies and leaves Avery virtually his entire fortune. The catch? Avery has no idea why–or even who Tobias Hawthorne is. To receive her inheritance, Avery must move into sprawling, secret passage-filled Hawthorne House, and even more unfortunate for Avery, Hawthorne House is also occupied by the family that Tobias Hawthorne just dispossessed. This includes the four Hawthorne grandsons: dangerous, magnetic, brilliant boys who grew up with every expectation that one day, they would inherit billions. Caught in a world of wealth and privilege, with danger around every turn, Avery will have to play the game herself just to survive.
Star Rating★★★★☆
ProIt’s been awhile since i’ve read a book that I was able to finish in a sitting and this book did not disappoint. It had LOTS of twists and turns and I also liked that we got to know the characters pretty well even though there were alot of them. I also liked that it was pretty past paced and wasn’t really stagnant at any one point.
ConSometimes there would be scenes in the book where the characters did things that didn’t really make sense for their character and it was kind of confusing. the love triangle was also kind of blech for me and none of the choices were really all that great, like mal and the darkling (kind of.)
Three WordsFast, trippy, drama
Trigger WarningsAbusive relationship, violence, death of loved one
