“You can fire me. You can try and have me censured. But I will not stop. Change starts with the voices of the few. I will be one of those few because they taught me how. And I know that I am not alone.”
TJ Klune
Hey guys!! I haven’t done a book review in a while! If you are from my Instagram, you might know how much I loved The Extraordinaries by TJ Klune, so I had a pretty good feeling about this book as well, and I have to say, it did not disappoint.
This book had an entirely different concept that The Extraordinaires and yet I found them to be similar in their character development. Though there wasn’t as much mystery in this book, I still found it to be thoroughly entertaining and heartfelt. I really liked that it had uplifting messages such as don’t judge people and be who you are unabashedly. Another thing that I really liked was the characters. Even though some things that they said were pretty cliche, I liked how different and cute that they were.
Something that I wish that there had been more of was the world building. I thought that it would have been more intensive if it answered question such as what happens to older magical beings, what would happen to the children when they grew up, etc. I know that this was supposed to be a light whimsical read but I think the book could have been improved with it. Also, I don’t know what it was but I imagined this book to be pretty similar to a long commercial or a short film in the way that it was written.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book, it is a light and fun read for anybody that needs a little pick me up or to get out of a reading slump!
